“Bodies In Balance: Tai Chi” Topic of Seminar June 16

Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast will host a seminar featuring Leslie Moskal, Doctor of Physical Therapy and Mary Kay Cattaneo, Director of Rehabilitation Services for Sacred Heart Hospital, on Friday, June 16 at 11a.m.

Leslie Moskal will be explaining the benefits of Tai Chi, Ai Chi, Otago, and Yoga and how it relates to reduction of fall risk and improved physical functioning. Barbara Rezmer, Tai Chi Instructor, will be leading a free demonstration of Tai Chi and encouraging participation in local community classes.

Tai Chi is a low impact Chinese martial art of flowing movements and postures that improves balance, relaxation, flexibility, mental focus, and immune and cardiovascular functions while reducing pain and fall risk.

Mary Kay Cattaneo will share information on the Bodies in Balance Fall Prevention Program available at Sacred Heart and our Wellness Program offering aquatic, strengthening and balance classes offered at Sacred Heart Rehabilitation at Somerby Assisted Living in Santa Rosa Beach. Free balance assessments will be provided after the seminar.

The center also provides specialized care, troubleshooting, and education for patients that have conditions affecting their overall balance and mobility.
